Women's Basketball Loses Nailbiter On Sophomore Day

The women's basketball team suffered a 58-52 loss to Tompkins Cortland CC on February 15.
The contest featured two conference rivals and nearby colleges, setting the stage for an exciting matchup. The game did not disappoint since it was close all throughout. The two teams were tied at the end of the first quarter, the Panthers were up by two at halftime, then up by one entering the fourth quarter. Tompkins Cortland used a 20-point fourth to squeak out the six-point win.
Prior to the contest, Sophomore players Zephora Brouillette and Juliana Turner, as well as Freshman Adrianna Finta who intends to graduate in the Fall of 2026, and Sophomore Student Assistant Madeline Hyzer were all recognized for their contributions to the team.
Additionally, Head Coach Mike Huggler was the recipient of a special ceremony during halftime of the contest which honored his 25 years of coaching the SUNY Broome women's basketball team and celebrated his final home game in his career as the leader of the Hornets. Huggler will retire from coaching after this season.
In her final home game as a SUNY Broome Hornet, Brouillette just missed a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Turner corralled 10 rebounds. Finta did secure a double-double, scoring a team-high 20 points and grabbing 12 boards. Alyvia Heath added 10 points and four rebounds. Nnyala Stark had 14 rebounds.
SUNY Broome fell to 4-15 with the defeat.
