Stellar Pitching Performances Lead Baseball To Sweep Of Fulton-Montgomery

Luke Grassi and Peter Cruz each pitched complete games as SUNY Broome swept a doubleheader from Fulton-Montgomery CC on Saturday at home.
The Hornets mercied the Raiders 12-2 after five innings in the first contest and outscored the Raiders 7-1 in the second game of the day, which went all seven innings.
With the sweep, SUNY Broome improves to 7-17 overall. Next on the schedule is a doubleheader at a conference and divisional opponent in Corning CC on Tuesday.
Game 1: SUNY Broome 12, Fulton-Montgomery 2
SUNY Broome used a consistent offensive presence to score runs in the first inning, the fourth inning, and the fifth inning. The Hornets didn't allow the Raiders to get on the board until the top of the 4th in which Fulton-Montgomery scored its only two runs of the game. A 5-run bottom of the 5th transformed the contest from a 7-2 game into a 10-run, mercy-rule win for the Hornets.
SUNY Broome outhit Fulton-Montgomery 11-4 and didn't commit an error.
Grassi excelled on the mound as he pitched all five innings and earned his second win of the season. He allowed just four hits and two runs and had a strikeout.
Kaiden Cannistra and Darlyn De Los Angeles each had 3-hit efforts in the win. Cannistra was 3-3 with two doubles, a walk, three runs, and three RBI. De Los Angeles went 3-4 with two runs and four RBI.
Santino Michitti added two hits and a walk and a run. Carmelo Alessandro and Zechariah Clouston each had an RBI.
Game 2: SUNY Broome 7, Fulton-Montgomery 1
SUNY Broome plated a run in the first inning before the Raiders tied the contest at 1-1 in the 3rd. SUNY Broome responded with a big 6-run bottom of the 4th and then held the Raiders scoreless the rest of the way for a comfortable win.
SUNY Broome's starting pitcher Cruz was brilliant, allowing just one run and one walk while logging five strikeouts over 7.0 innings in the complete-game win. The win was Cruz's third of the season and he has pitched a complete game in all three.
Cannistra continued his excellent day by going 2-3 with a walk, a run, and an RBI. Michitti was 2-3 with a double and three RBI. Bailey O'Connor was 1-3 with a double, a run, and two RBI.
Thomas Reis Jr. and Landon Hepditch added one hit each.
