Women Pick Up Third Consecutive Win
The women’s soccer team hosted Onondaga CC on Wednesday afternoon in a MSAC game and came out on top 7-0.
The women's soccer team hosted Onondaga CC on Wednesday afternoon in a MSAC game and came out on top 7-0. After a hard fought first half which ended in a 0-0 tie behind brilliant defensive play by both teams, the Hornets exploded for seven second half goals to shutout the Lazers for the convincing win. It was the Hornets third consecutive win and second shutout.
Broome scored early and often beginning with Dana Stepp's game winner in the 48th minute. Stepp was assisted by Avery Kenyon who got her first of three assists on the day and Arianna Michitti who had a hat trick and an assist to lead the Hornets on points. Stepp added two more goals to record a hat trick of her own with goals in the 59th and 82nd minutes. Michitti scored unassisted in the 63rd minute beating two defenders in the box as well as the keeper one on one. Michitti finished the scoring in the 88th minute when she found herself one on one with the goalkeeper again. Ella Stafford rounded out the scoring with a goal directly off her own corner kick in the 75th minute. The Hornets recorded a season best 7 goals on 19 shots while holding the Lazers to just 5 shots on the day. Kayla Wyckoff recorded the shutout for the host team.
The Hornets travel to Troy on Saturday for a Region III contest against Hudson Valley CC, scheduled for a 3:00 P.M. start before returning to Alumni Field on Monday for a MSAC match against Corning CC at 4:00 P.M.
