Dantuono Wins Shot Put At Hamilton College Invitational
Joseph Dantuono took 1st place in the shot put as the men's track & field team had a successful day at the Hamilton College Invitational on April 11.
Joseph Dantuono took 1st place in the shot put as the men's track & field team had a successful day at the Hamilton College Invitational on April 11.
Dantuono won the event by throwing a distance of 12.71 meters. He was the only NJCAA competitor in the event and beat out participants from several four-year NCAA institutions such as Oneonta, Potsdam, Utica, Morrisville, and Houghton. He also took 7th place in the discus event by throwing a distance of 33.20 meters.
The Hornets continued their strong start to the season by placing in the top 10 of an event on six occasions.
Pharvensky Pamphil took 8th place in the long jump with a distance of 5.38 meters. Thomas Strong finished 6th in the long jump with a distance of 5.70 meters and 4th in the triple jump with a distance of 11.92 meters. Strong also logged a time of 24.86 in the 200 meter dash. Lastly, Nevan Doubleday finished 10th in the 400 meter dash with a time of 55.09 seconds. Doubleday also ran the 200 meter dash in a time of 23.68 seconds.
Adding to the effective team effort, Maaz Hussain set a personal record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.05. He also logged a time of 58.84 in the 400 meter dash.
Jacob Quail completed the 800 meter run in 2:25.96 and continued the record-setting day by posting a personal best in the 5K with a time of 20:28.64.
Ethan Austin made his season debut and ran a 12.42 in the 100 meter dash.
Coming up, the Hornets will be at SUNY Cortland on Friday and Saturday for the SUNY Cortland Classic. Events are slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
