Women Earn Multiple Personal Records At Cortland Classic
Multiple members of the women's track & field team set personal bests at the two-day Cortland Classic invitational which was hosted by SUNY Cortland this past Friday and Saturday.
Multiple members of the women's track & field team set personal bests at the two-day Cortland Classic invitational which was hosted by SUNY Cortland this past Friday and Saturday.
Leading the way was Aisling King who placed 10th overall in the shot put with a distance of 10.71 meters and made a personal record in the discus with a distance of 27.80 meters. King's result in the discus event also met the qualifying standard for the NJCAA National Championship.
On Friday the 17th, Hannah Sanford threw 17.34 meters in the javelin and then followed that up with a PR of 7.74 meters in the shot put and 26.31 meters in the discus on Saturday the 18th.
Sage Tifft also had an effective weekend by setting a PR in the 5K of 25:03.33, which took more than 15 seconds off her previous best 5K time which was set at the NJCAA Cross Country National Championships this past Fall. Tifft also ran the 800 meter race in a time of 3:08.31.
Lastly, Gabriella Vazquez put together a top-10 performance for the third week in a row with an 8th overall finish in the javelin on Friday on a distance of 21.65 meters. On Saturday, Vazquez threw 7.73 meters in the shot put and 22.80 meters in the discus.
The Hornets will close out the regular season this upcoming Friday at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) for the Capital District Classic.
