The coaching staff for the program will consist of Maria Montemagno as Interim Head Coach and Erica Contro as Assistant Coach.
Montemagno, pictured on the left, is also a professor in and the Chair of the Hospitality Programs department at SUNY Broome. She has had an extensive involvement in the high school cheerleading circuit over the past five years, coupled with her leadership experience as the President of the Chenango Valley Cheerleading Booster Club, leading the club to Nationals in Orlando, Florida during her time in the role. Contro, pictured on the right, has 14 years of coaching experience in the sport with Chenango Valley.
Montemagno says she is looking forward to cultivating and nurturing a thriving cheerleading program at SUNY Broome that will in the future act as a feeder system to facilitate the transition of talented student-athletes to collegiate-level cheerleading programs. She hopes to tap into the abundant talent pool of cheerleaders in the local community, to attract exceptional local athletes to the program.
