Kaiden Cannistra from the baseball team is the first SUNY Broome Student-Athlete of the Week for the Spring 2026 sports season. During the week of March 9 through March 15, the baseball team opened its 2026 season with a doubleheader at nationally-ranked #5 Brookdale CC. Cannistra went 3-5 (.600 batting average) with a double, 2 RBI, and a stolen base.

Updated on 3/31/26: Kaiden's positive start to the season continued over the next three doubleheaders he played in. After 6 games on the season, Cannistra had a scorching statline of 15-21 (.714 batting average) with 3 doubles, 2 triples, 4 RBI, 7 runs, and 2 steals. His .714 average led the entire NJCAA Region 3. After two more games, Kaiden's batting average came back down to earth to a .630 mark through 8 games played, which is still currently the highest in NJCAA Region 3.
