vs Genesee

The women's soccer team handed Genesee CC their third loss of the year in a 3-2 upset played at Alumni Field on Saturday.  The Hornets started the scoring when McKenna Williams took a perfectly placed  through ball from Jordan McGinnis, beat two defenders and slotted a shot past the Genesee GK in the second minute.  After a strong back and forth for the next 38 minutes McGinnis got one of her own as she lofted a shot over the goalkeeper from 32 yards.  The score settled at 2-0 going into halftime.

In the 50th minute Bri Heers brought the Cougars to within one only to be answered by Alyssa Pochkar four minutes later with the eventual winner as she was perfectly positioned for a rebound goal and put it away.  Allison Duhow brought Genesee to within one in the 83rd minute but it wasn't enough and the Hornets held on for their most significant win of the season.   Genesee outshot Broome 16-11 and both teams were even in corners at 3.  Paige Finch turned in another solid game in goal with 11 saves.

SUNY Broome's record heading into playoffs stands at 9-6-1 overall and 7-6-1 in Region III.
